AGFSA LEAGUE RULES |

|
Game Forfeiture: An official forfeiture will take place if a team has less than 8 players at game time. However, the league encourages a practice game to take place.
Early Departure: All early departures by players before the game is officially over must be brought to our attention of the opposing Coach and the Official Scorekeeper. No out will take place for the player leaving if due to injury.
Substitution/Batting: All players must bat in the batting order. Free substitution may be made in the field only.
Equipment:
· Gloves/Mitts: All players must have a glove. Mitts may only be used by the catcher and first baseman. Pitcher shall only use a solid colored glove while pitching, (does not include eyelets, lacing, or patch on the back of the glove).
· Helmets: All helmets must have a chin strap and face mask.
· Playing Field: All team members, including Coaches, Team Representative, and players will remain inside the playing field during the course of the game. (Exceptions: Warming up and restroom breaks with the permission of the coach.)
· Softball Type: See USSSA Rule Book.
6 and under Division
Game Length: Games will be 7 innings, or no new inning will begin after 45 minutes, which ever comes first. Teams may only score 5 runs per half inning.
Playing Time: All players must play at least every other inning per game. There will be 9 defensive players in the field. Three of the players must play in the outfield. Outfielders must remain at least 10 feet behind the base lines. The infielders may not play closer to home plate than the pitcher’s plate prior to the ball being put into play by the batter. There are free substitutions in the field.
Batting: All players on the roster will be in the batting order. Batting team responsible for retrieving foul balls and returning them to umpire.
Pitching: The pitcher must be in contact with the pitching rubber until the ball is put into play.
Dead Ball: Pitcher must have control of the ball inside the pitching circle for the play to be dead. Runners will advance or return to bases if more or less than halfway.
Field Size: Bases will be sixty feet. Pitching rubber will be at 35 feet.
Stealing: No stealing allowed.
Umpires: The league will provide one umpire for league games.
Scorekeeping: The home team will provide the official scorekeeper.
Softball Type: 11 inch core 44 or 47 ball.
8 and under Division
Game Length: Games will be 7 innings or no new inning will begin after 50 minutes, which ever comes first. Teams may only score 5 runs per inning.
Playing Time: All players must play at least every other inning per game. There will be 9 defensive players on the field. Three of the players must play in the outfield. Outfielders must remain at least 10 feet behind baselines. The infielders may not play closer to home plate than the pitchers plate prior to the ball being put into play by the batter. There are free substitutions in the field only.
Batting: All players on the roster will be in the batting order. Each batter is to receive 5 pitches. This will include foul balls. Only swinging strikes will be called.
Pitching: The pitching machine will pitch the ball from 35 feet @ the speed of 37 mph. An eight foot circle will surround the pitching rubber. The Coach will be responsible for feeding the pitching machine. Pitcher must stay even with or behind machine until ball is put into play by batter. A batted ball that hits the pitching machine will be considered a single and all runners will advance on base. There will be no walks.
Field Size: Bases will be sixty feet. Pitching rubber will be at 35 feet.
Stealing: Only one base allowed on a pitched ball. There is no stealing home allowed. There is stealing allowed on all other bases. The runner may not leave the base until the ball crosses home plate.
Umpires: The league will provide one umpire for league games.
Scorekeeping: The home team will provide the official scorekeeper.
Softball Type: 11 inch core 44 or 47 ball.

10 and under Division
Game Length: Games will be 7 innings or no new inning will begin after 60 minutes, which ever comes first. Teams may only score 5 runs per inning.
Playing Time: All players must play at least every other inning per game. There will be 9 defensive players on the field. Three of the players must play in the outfield. Outfielders must remain at least 10 feet behind the baselines. The infielders may not play closer to home plate than the pitchers plate prior to the ball being put into play by the batter. There are free substitutions in the field only.
Batting: All players on the roster will be in the batting order. The batter is out on a third strike even if the catcher drops the ball.
No infield fly rule: Rule is not in effect in this age group.
Pitching: The pitching distance shall be 35 feet.
Field Size: Same as 8 & under.
Stealing: Stealing home is allowed. The runner may not leave the base until the ball is released by the pitcher. No limit on bases
Umpires: The league will provide two umpires for the league games.
Scorekeeping: The home team will provide the official scorekeeper.
Softball Type: 11 inch core 44 or 47 ball.

12 and Under Division

Playing Time: All players must play at least every other inning per game. There will be 9 defensive players on the field. Three of the players must play in the outfield. Outfielders must remain at least 10 feet behind the baselines. There are free substitutions in the field only.
Batting: All players on the roster will be in the batting order.
Pitching: The pitching distance will be 40 feet.
Field Size: Bases are at 60 feet and the pitching rubber will be 40 feet.
Third Drop Strike: Runners may advance on third dropped strike.
Stealing: See USSSA rule book. Runners may not leave until the ball is released by the pitcher.
Umpires: The league will provide two umpires for the league games.
Softball Type: 12 inch, 47 max core.
Scorekeeping: The home team will provide the official scorekeeper.
Infield Fly Rule: The infield fly rule is in effect.
